Acorn Quest - Students growing acorns
Acorn Quest with National Schools
For 2025/26 we are delighted to be working with 30+ schools. Over 1,000 amazing students will take part and each try to grow an oak seedling from an acorn.
Starting in late October students will “adopt” an acorn and place it in an acorn holder in a glass jar somewhere safe and bright in their classroom. These acorns will need to be checked each day and if necessary have their water topped up. We also hope to grow one extra acorn per classroom to represent all the students, parents and teachers.
Over the next 5 months the oaks will grow roots, shoots and eventually leaves. By spring time they should be ready to be transplanted to a pot of soil and brought to their forever home.
The unique acorn holder was designed to be fun and easy to use and each can be reused multiple times over multiple years. They hold a wide range of acorns and fit a wide range of jars.
